$450 Million Rochester Casino in the Works
A major real estate company from Rochester, New York are set to unveil plans for a massive $450 million casino and resort site. The casino and resort is most likely to be built in the Tyre area, right next to the Finger Lakes. The plans for the casino were initially revealed a few months ago, with the “Wilmot Casino and Resort” set to open in a couple of years. However, changes to those plans reveal that it will be named the “Lago Resort and Casino”. In addition, there are a few changes to the building structure and amenities, which will raise the cost of the project by around $100 million from initial projections.
Residential Concerns:
Residents of the Rochester area were worried about the casino’s impact on their personal lives. Casinos can be very rowdy places, especially if there is an attached hotel and resort. However, the new plans mean that the site will be further away from residential spots than originally planned. This should help with the final approval process, while keeping the town’s population on side.
JNB Gaming Statement:
The gaming company is one of the major partners for this venture, and they had some important things to say about the project. JNB Gaming believes they were a little hasty in their initial plans, where they did not get much input from Wilmot Real Estate or from the community. By taking suggestions on board, tweaking casino plans, and restructuring a few sites, they have created a much better blueprint for this casino.
“It took us some time, but we managed to speak to people in the community and understand what they wanted out of this casino. Some of the buildings were adjusted to build in with their surroundings, and the site was moved further away from people’s homes. We believe this decisive step will get the project approved imminently.” – JNB Gaming principal Jonathan Swain.
Along with a four or five star hotel and resort, there will be a massive performance arts theater, a high class restaurant, a spa facility, and a pool.
